 The Gift of (the) Gab

The gift of the gab (en inglés británico), the gift of gab (en inglés norteamericano), es el don que tienen algunos para mantener la atención de quienes los oyen hablar, ya sea para expresarles algo, convencerlos de algo, ¡venderles algo! Es lo que nosotros llamamos "tener labia", o en castellano bien argentino, "tener chamullo".

1) A: Adam would make a great salesman.
         Adam sería un excelente vendedor.
     B: How come?
         ¿Por?
     A: Well, he has the gift of the gab, you know. He can convince you of almost anything.
          Y, tiene chamullo/labia, viste. Te puede convencer de cualquier cosa, casi.

2) A: I could never be a salesperson.
         Jamás podría ser vendedora.
    B: Why not?
         ¿Por qué no?
    A: I don't precisely have the gift of the gab. If I know something is not good, I'm not selling it.
         No tengo labia/chamullo precisamente. Si sé que algo no es bueno, no te lo voy a vender.

3) A: You went out with Mary? How did you get her to date you? She's like the prettiest girl in the world!
         ¿Saliste con María? ¿Cómo hiciste para que salga con vos? ¡Es como la mina más linda del mundo!
   B: Well, my friend, I have something called the gift of the gab, you see. It wasn't that hard to convince her.
        Bueno, amigo mío, tengo lo que se llama labia/chamullo, viste. No fue tan difícil convencerla.
