El phrasal verb de hoy es fit in. Fit solito, como verbo, significa "quedar bien, entrar, servir, caber", entre otras posibles cosas. Veamos algunos ejemplos:
1) These jeans are too small. They don't fit.
Estos jeans son demasiado chicos. No me quedan.
2) There are too many things in this drawer. My new clothes won't fit.
Hay demasiadas cosas en este cajón. Mi ropa nueva no va a caber.
3) The punishment has to fit the crime.
El castigo debe estar a la medida del delito.
Ahora bien, fit in significa "encajar", en el sentido de "ser aceptado" en un grupo.
4) Teenagers tend to copy their peers to fit in.
Los adolescentes tienden a copiar a sus pares para encajar/ser aceptados.
5) A: Why are you inviting these people from work to your party? I thought you hated them!
A: ¿Por qué invitás a esta gente del trabajo a tu fiesta? ¿No era que los odiabas?
B: I know... I just want them to like me. I just want to fit in!
B: Sí... Pero quiero caerles bien. ¡Quiero encajar/que me acepten!
6) The poor yellow duckling in the picture also wants to fit in. Will he fit in?
El pobre patito amarillo de la foto también quiere ser aceptado. ¿Lo será?
