Run out of

(Just when I was running out of ideas...)

Justo cuando se empezaban a terminar las ideas... me acordé de este phrasal verb ¡que significa eso! To run out of something es quedarse sin algo porque se nos terminó.

1) We'll stop at the next gas station. I'm running out of gas.
     Vamos a parar en la próxima estación de servicio. Me estoy quedando sin nafta.

2) Please, go do your homework. I've asked you 5 times already. I'm running out of patience here.
    Por favor, andá a hacer tu tarea. Ya te lo pedí 5 veces. Se me está terminando la paciencia.

3) Thank you for joining our creative team. We need an extra head, as we're running out of ideas.
     Gracias por unirte a nuestro equipo creativo. Necesitamos una cabeza más, ya que se nos están terminando las ideas.

4) Can you go to the store? I'm afraid we've run out of toilet paper...
    ¿Podés ir a comprar? Me temo que nos quedamos sin papel higiénico...

Podemos seguir agregando ejemplos como estos todo el día, pero mejor, veamos si la próxima oración tiene un phrasal verb o no.

5) A: What is the first thing you have to do if the house is on fire?
     B: Run out of it!

Aquí también tenemos la combinación de palabras run + out + of (something), pero en este caso, no estamos frente a un phrasal verb sino a un verbo (run) y un circunstancial de lugar. ¿Ven la diferencia? Si no la ven y necesitan ayuda, pueden dejar un mensaje.
