La expresión de hoy es get rid of. Significa "deshacerse de". Ejemplos:
1) Madre a hijo adolescente:
Get rid of those shoes, Jim. I beg you! I'll get you new ones!
Tirá esas zapatillas, Jim. ¡Te lo ruego! ¡Te compro unas!
2) I always gain weight during the holidays. I need to get rid of 4 pounds now.
Siempre subo de peso en las Fiestas. Tengo que bajar/sacarme de encima/deshacerme de 2 kilos.
3) Secretary: Mr. Smith is on line 1.
Secretaria: El Sr. Smith está en la línea 1.
Boss: Oh, please get rid of him. Just tell him I'm out to lunch.
Jefe: Uh, por favor, deshacete de él/sacátelo de encima. Decile que me fui a almorzar.
